Government consultation on science strategy now open

June 22, 2015

The Australian Government today invited the scientific and research community to help develop a national science strategy for Australia.

The Science and Industry Minister Ian Macfarlane and the Education Minister Christopher Pyne released a consultation paper to stimulate discussion and prompt ideas from those in the industry, education and research sectors.

The Academy welcomes progress in this vital area, and is pleased to see the proposal within the consultation paper to develop an international science engagement strategy. The Academy looks forward to making a submission to the consultation process.

Today's announcement follows a report last year from the Office of the Chief Scientist which called for a national science strategy.
