The Australian Academy of Science annual speaker series for 2022, ‘Surprising science: borrowed ideas leading to unimagined consequences’, will uncover remarkable stories of breakthroughs, new technologies and unexpected outcomes—all born from scientific disciplines borrowing each other’s ideas.

See how discoveries from our everyday lives inspired scientific solutions in ways you could not imagine.

The Australian Academy of Science Public Speaker Series for 2023 is ‘Looking back, moving forward: Indigenous knowledges informing our modern world.’

Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Peoples are the oldest continuous cultures on Earth. The wealth of knowledges gathered over 65,000 years has growing and continued relevance to modern scientific discoveries.

Join the Australian Academy of Science in our 70th anniversary year for a look at our history and into our future, at our 2024 public speaker series.

In each instalment, we will follow the story of one scientific discipline, with an Academy Fellow and an early-career researcher as our expert guides.

Welcome to the Academy’s Shine On newsletter, published twice a year to keep our donors, supporters and friends informed about our philanthropy and partnership activities.

Please email philanthropy@science.org.au if you would like to receive our Shine On newsletter as an email.
