The Australian Academy of Technology and Engineering (ATSE), in collaboration with the Australian Academy of Science, will deliver the Australian Government’s $18.2 million ‘Global Science and Technology Diplomacy Fund – Strategic Element’, a key part of the new $60.2 million GSTDF fund.
Over the next four years, the fund will support international collaboration to enhance Australia’s profile in science and technology research and application. Australian business, entrepreneurs and researchers can capitalise on international opportunities to commercialise their cutting-edge products and services and strengthen scientific collaborations.

Applications close soon for the following Falling Walls Lab events, where Australian students, researchers and early-career professionals from across the country are invited to pitch their innovative idea in just three minutes, showcasing a breakthrough that creates a positive impact on science and society.
Brisbane: Applications are open for QLD, WA and NT residents. Applications close 31 July, and the event is on 12 August.
Sydney: Applications are open for NSW, ACT, VIC, TAS and SA residents. Applications close 11 August and the event is on 23 August.
The top five winners from the two events will participate in the Academy’s Falling Walls Lab Australia on 5 September, to determine who will be representing Australia at the Falling Walls Lab Finale in Berlin in November and win a ticket to the Falling Walls Conference.
Applications are now open for funding by the Theo Murphy Initiative (Australia) to deliver activities that support EMCRs. EMCRs are invited to submit proposals to receive funding for activities to be delivered in the period September 2022 – August 2023. In its 2022–23 round, the Theo Murphy Initiative (Australia) will fund interdisciplinary activities that provide research and career development opportunities for EMCRs in Australia. The three streams of funding available are Flagship activities, Amplify activities and Participation support.
