Transformed Nova website explains science for all

The Australian Academy of Science officially launched its reimagined science website Nova in Sydney, as part of National Science Week.

The inspiring and educational site presents the best current scientific understanding through highly engaging graphics, video and interactive material. Every topic on Nova is created by talented science writers and digital producers, and verified by Fellows and other top Australian scientists with expertise in the subject.

Nova was one of the first science education websites in the world when it was established by the Academy in 1997. With generous support from Telstra it has now undergone a complete transformation and features a wide range of easy-to-understand science topics, from the enhanced greenhouse effect to how performance drugs work. Readers can also ask scientists and experts questions directly through each topic's Ask an Expert section.

Marine scientist and star of 'Coast Australia' and Nova champion, Professor Emma Johnston, formally launched the site at the Australia Museum, along with Academy President Professor Andrew Holmes and Chairman of Telstra Ms Catherine Livingstone.
