Annual report 2004-2005

The Academy elects to its Fellowship those scientists who have made outstanding contributions to their science discipline. We also attempt to recognise scientists who have made an important discovery and been able to assist in taking the discovery through to an impact in our society. Apart from forming a body of the best scientific talent in the country, we aim to do everything we can to increase the quality of science and increase the quality of the way in which science is provisioned.

We are also very much concerned with bringing knowledge about science to Australian business and communities. We have especially concerned ourselves with science education in schools; this, in our view, is one of the most effective means of bringing the results of research and an understanding of science into the community in general.
