Academy efforts to provide advice on government policy and explain the science behind complex questions of public importance were the focus of attention at a high profile event in Beijing in June.
The Academy invites applications from professional researchers to collaborate with scientists in institutes affiliated with the Japan Society for the Promotion of Science (JSPS) between 1 April 2015 and 31 March 2016 for visits of up to 21 days.
The closing date for applications is 9 am Monday 29 September 2014.

The Academy is leading an Australian initiative that aims to correct the gender imbalance within senior level positions in science.

Entries are open for the 2015 Mike Smith Student Prize for the History of Australian Science or Australian Environmental History, organised by the National Museum of Australia and the National Committee for History and Philosophy of Science. A first prize of $3,000 will be awarded to the winning essay based on original unpublished student research.
