A program that brings US science and engineering graduate students to Australia during the American summer has once again enabled a group to undertake research and build relationships with their Australian counterparts.

The Australian Early- and Mid-Career Researcher Forum of the Australian Academy of Science serves as the voice of the country's future scientific and research leaders. We currently reach over 3,200 individuals and are seeking to broaden and increase our engagement with Australian EMCRs to better represent their views, needs and vision to decision makers within the government, Members of Parliament and key funding agencies.

The EMCR Forum’s national meeting, Science Pathways 2015—Effective science communication for EMCRs, will be held at the University of Adelaide's Braggs Lecture Theatre on 23-24 April 2015. The event will bring together EMCRs and senior scientists as well as representatives from industry and government.

The Australian Outlook Conferences are a high-profile activity that was proposed in the Australian strategic plan for Earth system science—To live within Earth’s limits: An Australian plan to develop a science of the whole earth system. This year's conference will focus on urbanisation issues for Earth system science.
