reSolve: Mathematics by Inquiry is a national program designed to promote relevant, rigorous and engaging mathematics from Foundation to Year 10. Resources for classroom use and professional learning are available free to all Australian teachers and are linked through Scootle.
reSolve is managed by the Australian Academy of Science in collaboration with the Australian Association of Mathematics Teachers, and is funded by the Australian Government Department of Education.
reSolve is working with the New South Wales Department of Education to support online mathematics learning, both via teachers and direct to students. We will be providing additional resources to supplement our existing sequences, including:
reSolve is also developing student investigations for self-directed student learning.
At the centre of reSolve is the reSolve: Mathematics by Inquiry Protocol. The Protocol sets out a vision for teaching and learning mathematics and underpins all aspects of the project.
It is organised around three focal points:
reSolve teaching resources provide exemplary materials from Years F to 10. They put into practice the elements of the reSolve Protocol and promote fluency, deep understanding, strategic problem solving, and mathematical reasoning.
Each teaching resource is carefully designed to develop progressive understanding through tasks that encourage a spirit of inquiry.
reSolve professional learning resources provide the link between the Protocol and the teaching resources. The resources are designed to inform and stimulate individual teacher and whole school change. They promote a shared understanding of the reSolve Protocol and the reSolve approach to promoting a spirit of inquiry.
Professional learning modules include:
reSolve Champions are volunteers who are commited to better mathematics outcomes for their students, and to working with colleagues in and beyond their school in mathematics. There are more than 300 reSolve Champions across the country promoting the uptake of reSolve resources and leading professional learning in schools and clusters. The Champions are committed to sustaining the spirit of inquiry and principles of reSolve into the future.
